Our People Make The Difference

Stephen Henderson, LIV Sotheby’s International Realty agent and Ventura County specialist, sat down with us this week to give us insight into his personal and professional life, and what sets him apart from the average Realtor®. Learn more about Stephen in his personal Q&A.

Thanks for sitting down with us! First off, can you tell us a little bit about yourself? How long have you been in the real estate industry for?

Funny enough, I couldn’t have started my career further from real estate if I tried! I originally got my degree in Mechanical Electronics with certifications in metallurgy, welding and brazing, and immediately started my professional career as a tradesman in titanium manufacturing. Although I enjoyed my work, I had always dreamed of a position where I could have purpose and really help people. My then supervisor at the mill told me I was wasting my talent and encouraged me to go into sales. At the time I was hesitant. I have always put honesty above all else and I never wanted to be someone who cared more about money than people. In 2015 I found my calling in real estate and have been helping Oregon and California home buyers find their forever homes ever since then.

What has been your biggest accomplishment in your career?

We all love that feeling of accomplishment. Personally, I feel accomplished after every transaction, knowing I’ve gone above and beyond for my clients. Every recognition or expression of appreciation from my clients gives me that feeling of fulfillment. I believe in building relationships on trust and clear communication, and I strive to make my clients’ experience with me one of pure pleasure.

Why did you choose to work with LIV Sotheby’s International Realty?

Just by using the Sotheby’s brand name alone sets us apart right from the start and lets our clients know that we stand for quality; and lets the competition know that they better work on theirs…

What is a trend that you are keeping your eye on right now in the industry?

Buying power, is the first thing I am watching in this current market because interest rates and available money are the the lifeline to feed the market. I like to watch the available money markets and share with my clients the latest market trends to be informed of.

Personally, what drives you in this industry?

I am personally motivated by the people I work with. I am lucky to be able to connect with people and really take into consideration their hopes, needs and dreams; and then do the best I can to deliver the best possible results.

What are you passionate about?

I really love to get outside. After living in the northwest for sometime, I have a whole new appreciation for the sunshine and Southern California climate.

What community do you live in? What do you like about it?

I live in Ventura but spend a lot of time in Ojai as well. I have always loved the pace of Ventura, it’s not too fast. The people here know how to appreciate this place; we all care for the natural beauty that this area has to offer. From the hiking trails, to the beautiful brisk morning sunrises and golden ocean sunsets, you can’t beat it if you ask me.

What’s your favorite part about living and working in California?

My favorite part of living down here, is having sunshine almost everyday and having the option of going on a hike in the mountains or a walk on the beach, and it’s only a 15 minute drive to either activity.

Stephen’s great communication tactics and good energy made working with him an absolute pleasure, in every phase of the transaction from searching to closing, Stephen had our well being in the forefront of his actions and. We strongly recommend hiring Stephen.
